Dorsal Column Stimulator

What is Spinal Cord Stimulation?

Spinal cord stimulation is a proven therapy that offers a treatment option for chronic pain. It is most commonly used to treat low back and leg pain. SCS uses electrical pulses to interrupt pain signals, resulting in pain relief. You may benefit from SCS if:

  • You have had chronic pain for over 6 months
  • You have tried other treatments such as medication, surgery, and injections that don’t provide adequate relief
  • Your pain is generally rated above a 5 on a scale 1-10 (10 being the worst)

What is HF10 Therapy?

A common side effect of most spinal cord stimulation therapies is a tingling or buzzing sensation, known as paresthesia. For some patients, this tingling masks their pain, but is always present and requires ongoing management. However, HF10 therapy does not cause paresthesia (a tingling) sensation, and allows patient to focus solely on achieving pain relief.

Unlike traditional spinal cord stimulation systems, HF10 therapy wont give you an unexpected shock when you bend or twist suddenly. HF10 therapy can also be used by driving and it can stay on while sleeping to help a person rest more soundly.

What Makes HF10 Therapy superior to Other Treatments?

  • HF10 is the first and only SCS therapy demonstrated as superior for treating back pain and leg pain.
  • The only SCS therapy able to deliver pain without paresthesia.
  • The only SCS therapy approved for use without restrictions on driving while receiving therapy.

How Does the Procedure Work?

There is a temporary trial procedure that usually lasts 5-7 days. If it successfully reduces your pain, you and your doctor will discuss a more permanent implant.

Does it Hurt?

You should not feel anything. Unlike other spinal cord stimulation systems, HF10 therapy does not create a tingling or buzzing sensation, known as paresthesia.

Can the Device Be Turned Off?

Yes, you will have control over your own therapy and can turn it off using your trial stimulator or remote control.
